Once a semester, Our Word invites an author of color to spend a week as a cultural Author-in-Residence. We're very excited to welcome Monica De La Torre to Columbia University this fall. During her week-long residency, Monica will meet with OW members one-on-one to discuss their manuscripts. She will also have a dinner with a select number of OW students to discuss her collection of poetry, Talk Shows.
Monica De la Torre has published poetry and conceptual art books in Spanish and English, including the artist book Appendices, Illustrations and Notes (Smart Art Press) and the poetry books Acϊfenos (Taller Ditoria) and Talk Shows (Switchback Books). She is co-editor of the multilingual anthology Reversible Monuments: Contemporary Mexican Poetry (Copper Canyon P) and translator and editor of the bilingual volume Poems by Gerardo Deniz (Taller Ditoria/ Lost Roads). She is the senior editor at BOMB Magazine.

Hari Kunzru is the author of The Impressionist, Transmission, and My Revolutions. He was named one of Granta's Best of Young British Novelists. He won a Betty Trask Award and the Somerset Maugham Award for The Impressionist. Transmission was named one of the New York Times's notable books of the year.
